Regenerative Reuse ECoHousing

Not every cohousing village needs to begin with raw land and new construction.

Our Taygete Cohousing Village new-build project is now at the advanced permitting and group formation stage, and we are now exploring a second pathway in Greece to community-led Ecohousing: adapting existing estates, small hotels, retreat centers, village-edge properties, and older buildings into beautiful, practical, year-round cohousing communities.

Could an old hotel become private homes and shared spaces?
Could a large estate become a Common House, with prefabriated homes nearby?
Could an existing village-edge property support a small, intentional community?
Could renovation, restoration, and thoughtful additions create something more rooted than a conventional development?

This pathway is about restoration and renovation of existing buildings to adapted to reuse. However, the project remains firmly within the traditional cohousing design movement universal characteristics- ushc as the Common House and site layouts that choreograph moments of connection throughout the day among neighbors.

We are currently exploring possibilities in Peloponnese and Crete and are cognizant that the Golden Visa amount in Crete is now at 800k, leaving Peloponnesos to be a strong contender, with Crete appropriate for those who may not need a Golden visa.

If you are serious about co-creating an ECohousing village and living in a place that reflects your values, the first step is an Information Coffee to review the Founding Member requirement.

Who are these projects for?

This project is for those who value meaningful connections with neighbors and living more sustainably.  Cohousing is Community -led, Values-led, and Design-led.

Community-Led: It all starts with a community of inspired people who come togetether IN ADVANCE and choose each other—an "intentional community" is born! The community bonds over creating their village together and those who commit to community reap its rewards.

Values-Led: This is a community shaped by shared values-- you can find our shared values HERE.  We seek to live more purposefully, supporting one another, and modeling a sustainable, joyful lifestyle.

Design-Led: Thoughtful, human-centered design choreographs moments of connection, promotes shared resources, and embraces the beauty of the surrounding environment.

Here in Crete, the essence of cohousing—close relationships, shared resources, and sustainable living—comes together with the island’s extraordinary natural beauty, rich culture, and relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle. Incredible beaches, majestic mountains, charming villages and towns, they all form the backdrop of our cohousing lifestyle.
