Welcome, Future Explorer!
Explorers are people actively learning with us, actively community building, and helping stress-test ideas before anything is built or remodeled. It’s a structured participation stage—you attend orientations, join sociocratic circles, gather in Greece together, and get involved in practical exercises (site walks, layout tradeoffs, governance previews).
The aim is clarity and fit—for you and for the group—not a purchase promise. Many established cohousing groups use this step (sometimes called “Explorer,” “Associate,” or “Provisional” member) so newcomers can understand roles, expectations, and community culture before making any bigger decisions.
It’s also the stage where friendships start to form, ideas get tested in real life, and you begin to feel the spark of “this could be home."

💳 Step 4: Pay Your Explorer
Membership Dues
Your membership becomes active once dues are received.
The amount depends on how soon you’re joining after your Information Coffee:
€150 — if you become a member on the same day as your Information Coffee (after speaking with Evi)
€200 — if you join within 1–14 days after your Coffee
€300 — if you join within 2 weeks to 2 months after your Coffee
€400 — if you join 2–6 months after your Coffee
You are welcome to become an "inactive" Explorer member if unable to participate. The rate for "supporting" Explorer is €350. Inactive supporting members activate their explorer membership several months before applying for Full membership.

🌿 Step 5: Begin Your Explorer Journey
🧭 Attend your 3 interactive orientations
🗓️ Join monthly Plenaries (and if Active Explorer, a circle as well).
🎨 Participate in visioning, workshops, and community projects, including transition to Greece and community development.
🤝 Start forming real connections and help shape what we’re building together.
-----------------------
➡️ To be eligible to apply as a Full Community Partner, you must:
1) Remain an active Explorer for at least 3 months, and
2) Visit the land and projects in Greece within a reasonable amount of time after membership given full time work or children and caretaking (expectations are as soon as possible and during the year of membership)
This ensures your connection is rooted in real relationships as well as place.
3) Transparency: If you miss three plenaries and, as an Active Explorer, haven’t contributed meaningfully to any project (including those that directly support your values or your transition to Greece)—we’ll consider your Explorer Membership inactive.
You’ll be moved to our general mailing list as a supporter, no longer eligible for Community Partnership.
*Please know as well that while these rules are followed, we are about relationships, not rigidity. Those who demonstrate they are one of those special people who value community will be able to talk to us if something comes up.
