Come walk the land, learn what cohousing really means, and help shape how we’ll live, grow, and gather together in 2025 or 2026

💫 What We Offer

A life of shared meals, laughter, and endless beauty—built on shared purpose and belonging. Weekly community service is the gateway to this lifestyle.

🔑 How to Join a Design Week Experience

These tours are not real estate showings. They’re for people who want to invest in a new way of life. We highly encourage becoming an "Explorer Member" before taking a tour of a physical location, as this demonstrates a value for intentional community and enables you to join after 3 orientations and interaction with members.

If you prefer to first see the physical location the members have chosen before you consider Explorer membership, you can join us for part of our program as a "Interested Visitor":

Instructions:

Please note: This is not a for-profit venture- all money goes to pay our professionals for their services in making this happen for the community.

Explorer Members & Design Week

Those who aspire to live in our village begin by becoming Explorer Members, joining a dedicated group that collaborates weekly on Zoom to co-create their future community.

Explorer Member Experiences take community engagement to the next level—offering a hands-on, immersive experience where members actively shape the village’s design, decisions, and culture. This is more than a tour; it’s a shared journey that fosters a deep sense of belonging and investment in the community’s future.

.

Each design trip begins in Athens with the welcome meal in Plaka before continuing first to Sparta (Peloponnesos) and then to Rethymno (Crete).

  • Members engage in special workshops where they meet actively with each other, the cohousing consultant, and professionals, so make decisions taht align their village with their vision and values.

  • Members also engage in special trips and meals to bond and get to know each other.

Design Week Opportunities

Explore the vision of cohousing in Greece and its beautiful locations with members and professionals:

  • Begin with a welcome dinner in Athens the night before, where you'll connect with others interested in community living.

  • Travel to Sparta to enjoy touring and learning about our Peloponnesos project with our cohousing consultant, developer, and members in a one-day experience.
The tour includes a "What is Cohousing?" presentation, visits to the location and to the surounding area.

  • Return to Athens for a group meal in Plaka, and then off to beautiful island of Crete, to the ancient city of Rethymno for our cohousing tour. Learn about the area and experience the sites, and tour homes, gaining insights from our cohousing consultant, developer, and members.

  • You'll also learn about the local area, the path to becoming a member of Greek Village Cohousing and the path to becoming an expat in Greece.

The Illusion of Paradise:

Why Picture-Perfect Moves Often End in Disappointment

People who put all their energy into finding the ideal view, perfect climate, great tax incentives, instagramable expat photos, etc....—without prioritizing the energy and planning needed for real relationships and real community—often end up feeling lonely and disappointed.

Studies show that those who focus on meaningful connections, mutual support, and shared values in cohousing report better health, greater happiness, and long-term stability (see studies here: study 1, study 2, study 3).

 Our Design Weeks Are For:

  1. Those who value belonging and seek a close-knit tribe. Those who value living more sustainably by sharing resources and mutual care.

…who know that real happiness comes from sharing time, energy, and life with neighbors on a regular full time basis to create lasting, meaningful relationships. Cohousing is about thriving together, not living side-by-side and going it alone.

  2. Those who value collaboration and community service

…who understand that living in Greece isn’t about perfect Instagram moments. It’s about building a life with others who want both beauty and to live with a purpose.  We seek a values-led and purposeful life.

   3. Those who understand going it alone is no longer a viable         long-term solution- even in paradise.

Long-term commitment to community and community service means thriving for a lifetime.
…we are people who recognize that real relationships, mutual care, living a more values-led and purposeful life- this does not happen through short-term vacations but instead where you set down roots.
